How to approach adult dating

If you are new to the world of adult dating, or recently single after a long term college relationship, it may seem odd to be adult dating as the rules apparently have all changed since you were younger and in college.  Well, there are many basics of adult dating that are not going to change, you will be anxiously awaiting the next night phone call, and your pulse rate is going to accelerate every time there is a mention of the person you dated among your friends or wherever you met the person you are considering adult dating.  By the way, the little flutters that are going to swallow you while you are getting ready for a date, yep those will still be there in adult dating.

The difference is, you are a little older now, and hopefully more mature, so you can swallow down all the date pre-jitters and actually have more control over the outcomes of your adult dating, making sure you show your best side and the date who you are.  Why?  Because with age comes wisdom, and you have a lot better of an idea of who you are and what you like and want now, you simply have to let your date see that and you will be well on your way to great adult dating.

One of the key factors that will mark the success adult dating is your dress, because first impressions do set a great tone for the rest of the date.  (Or a negative one if you try too hard.)  You should dress to impress, but do not run rampant with this idea.  A miniskirt and low cut skirt is just going to look ridiculous on you in the adult dating world.  Along the same lines, if your pants are falling off and you are wearing a sports jersey you will look just as ridiculous as a guy.  For the most part, no matter what gender you are, wearing attire that you would wear to a casual work gathering is probably the most appropriate way to judge is you are aptly dressed, along with a few well placed accessories.

Plan dates that are going to let you get to know each other better right off the bat.  With older age comes a quicker time table for adult dating, you no longer have years to get to know each other, and likely a few dates are all the time that someone is going to give you a chance before they move on, and since this is not high school or college, you won’t be running into them later to give you that second shot for impression.  Keep communication open by choosing dates such as bowling, the pool hall, or a museum, anywhere that you will have a constant source of interaction and stimulating conversation to get you started.

Finally, just be yourself.  You want your date to see all of your best qualities, so don’t spend the whole time worrying about who you should be while adult.  Since you are older you pretty much know what kind of person you are and how you have shaped your life, so show your individuality to them in a way that they can’t possibly resist every time you go out adult dating.
