Why Online Dating is better than doing it the old fashioned way

Online dating may still have a bit of a stigma attached to it to the effect that it’s for ‘lonely’ or ‘desperate’ people, but the reality is that online dating was found to have a 94 percent success rate in terms of people continuing to date beyond their initial meeting!

Meeting people the old fashioned way is what leaves people asking “where have all the good men/women gone?” Never mind the nerve-wracking act of actually going out to pick up and then having to approach someone, but what about the slim pickins?? It seems that everyone is married or taken or just unapproachable. There are very few of us who manage to get a phone number or date everyday, but with online dating; that’s actually possible! I’m not saying that online dating should be used as a way to boost your ego by gathering as many numbers and dates as you can, but you should use this method to its maximum potential and meet as many likeminded and interesting people as you can since each date could be one closer to the ever-elusive ‘one’ that we all long for, whether it be THE ONE we marry or THE ONE we have the greatest sex ever with!

Online dating sites allow us to really be ourselves thanks to the comfort of being able to do it from the privacy of our homes and be anonymous as long as we wish. You feel free to say what you really mean this way which has a lot to do with why it’s so successful; because we chat freely and openly and weed and get to know someone before we meet them. That little bond that you develop with someone that you chat with a few times can be the glue that holds things together when you finally meet in person. The same study that found that online dating had the 94 percent success rate attributes the success to this attachment that people—men especially—from before they meet.

Another benefit of online dating is that you get to weed through what you want and what you don’t without the awkwardness of shooting someone down face-to-face. You only have to browse and reply to those profiles that seem to fit what you’re looking for. It’s like a potential-date buffet really! You have a bunch of profiles all neatly aligned in the categories of your choice and you get to sift through the selection and choose what you like. I suggest keeping an open mind and not ruling out people based on some of the more frivolous or superficial attributes,  but if you’re adamant that you will only date people of a certain age, coloring and body type; then by all means click on the appropriate boxes when searching and go wild! Online dating can be catered to your wants and needs, unlike meeting people by chance in a supermarket.

Online dating is all about you and the experience will be whatever you make it, so have fun, keep an open mind and date yourself silly!
